Restoring History. Inspiring the Future.
The Skymaster Warbird Foundation is dedicated to preserving the historic O-2 Skymaster — the iconic twin-boom Forward Air Control aircraft that served bravely over Vietnam and beyond.
Our Mission
At Skymaster Warbird Foundation, we are dedicated to preserving aviation history and promoting educational opportunities. Our mission is to inspire and educate the next generation of aviators and aerospace enthusiasts.
The Cessna O-2 Skymaster served as the eyes of the battlefield during the Vietnam War, flown by Forward Air Controllers (FACs) who directed airstrikes with uncommon courage at treetop altitude. We acquire, restore, and maintain these historic aircraft for airshow display and living history education — ensuring future generations understand the sacrifices made by FAC pilots and their crews.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Our Fleet & Memorial
Each aircraft in our care represents a chapter of American aviation history. We honor the men who flew these missions by keeping their aircraft airworthy and in the public eye.
FAC Variant — S/N [Insert Serial]
The O-2A was the primary Forward Air Control variant, serving with the USAF in Vietnam. Armed with rocket pods and white phosphorus markers, FAC pilots flew low and slow to identify targets and coordinate close air support.
Psychological Operations Variant
The O-2B was configured for psychological operations (PSYOP), equipped with loudspeakers and leaflet dispensers. It flew thousands of sorties broadcasting surrender appeals over enemy-held territory.
Dedicated to FAC Pilots & Crews
We maintain a permanent memorial honoring the Forward Air Controllers who gave their lives or were taken prisoner flying these missions. Their names and stories are preserved for future generations.
